Dates and Deadlines for 2017/2018 School Year:

Middle School (Grades 6-8): Rolling Admissions

Preschool to Grade 5:

Priority Application Deadline: January 27, 2017
Interview / Assessment Period: February 2017
Decisions Emailed: By March 16, 2017

After the recommended deadline, we accept applications on a space available basis year round. Applicants may be waitlisted for full classes and programs. If you have questions about availability, please contact admissions@sv.ycef.com.

Eligibility:

  1. Preschoolers must be two years old before the first day of school (August 16, 2017).
  2. Preschoolers three years old and older must be fully potty-trained.
  3. Kindergarteners must be five years old by September 1.

To apply to YCIS Silicon Valley, follow these six simple steps.

The first step is to submit the Contact Admissions online inquiry form to create an account and receive a user name and password.

If you already have a user name and password, you are ready to apply.

Submit the online application form for the program of your choice.

Preschool Application
Grades K-8 Application

On the application, you will be asked to provide information about your child and family, upload a photo, and complete a parent questionnaire. You may log in as many times as you need to before submitting the application. A non-refundable application fee of $150 is required to complete the application.

Separate applications are required for siblings. (Household information from the first completed application will appear in the second.)

We will contact you to schedule your child’s interview and assessment.

Preschool Interview: Preschool interviews are informal “play” sessions with teachers and other children. The interview helps to ensure a “good fit” – that the child is ready for the type of dual language learning environment he or she will experience at YCIS, and that the YCIS program will meet the learning needs of the child. Some children may be asked to attend a second interview before a decision on admission is made.

Grades K-8 Interview: Students enrolling in Kindergarten through Grade 8 will be assessed by teachers in both English and Mandarin to determine appropriate grade level and language level placement.

Shadow Day (Grades 1-8): Shadow Days may be arranged with the Principal for Elementary and Middle School applicants who have completed their applications.

Transcripts are required for applicants entering Grades 1–8. Please bring two years of transcripts with you to the interview/assessment, or have your child’s school send them beforehand, if possible.

Applicants for Grades K-5 are required to provide one Teacher Evaluation from the child’s previous school.

Applicants for Grades 6–8 are required to submit two Teacher Evaluations.

Teacher Evaluation Forms and Student Record Release Forms will be emailed to applicants as required.

Decision notifications are communicated by email.

Applicants applying by the January deadline will be notified with a decision by mid-March. Applicants who have been accepted will receive an Offer of Admission by email.

Applicants applying later in the year will be considered on a space available basis. Applicants may be placed in a waiting pool to be called for an interview when a space becomes available. During the year, decisions on completed applications will be communicated 3–5 working days after the interview/assessment.

Enroll

To accept an Offer of Admission and secure the applicant’s place at YCIS Silicon Valley, parents should complete the online Enrollment Contract and pay the tuition deposit within two weeks of receiving the offer.

The Admissions Office will continue to be a point of contact from enrollment until the beginning of the school year, providing information to help prepare for the new year and answering any questions you may have during the summer.
