Days after the multiple disasters of earthquake, tsunami and nuclear leakage that struck Japan in March, YCIS Silicon Valley showed their support and sympathy to the Japanese people.
Students at YCIS Silicon Valley crafted handmade cards to show their care, concern and condolences for the children staying in shelters in Ishinomaki, one of the most hard-hit areas. Cards were sent out within a week of the disaster by YCIS Silicon Valley parent Dr. Enoch Choi, Medical Director of Jordan International Aid (JIA), which provides disaster relief for Japan. Dr. Choi shared with YCIS Silicon Valley students just how much the children in Ishinomaki were encouraged that children across the Pacific were sending good wishes and prayers for their recovery.
For some YCIS Silicon Valley Preschool students it was another opportunity to care for those in a disaster as they sent cards to children that JIA cared for in Haiti last year.
