A young audience at Mountain View Library’s Saturday story time was delighted by the YCIS middle schoolers’ bilingual puppet show on the go. Written and produced in English and Mandarin by the students themselves, the puppet show recounted the tale of Chang E in celebration of the Mid-Autumn Festival. Other performances this season were at YCIS’s Mid-Autumn Moon Festival and a special showing at YCIS’s preschool campus. A multi-disciplinary project of their East Meets West class, the bilingual show grew students’ skills in literacy, presentation and creativity while enriching their appreciation for Chinese culture and customs.
